If a new fan came to you and asked you which out of Meat's films you'd reccomend they watch first, which one would you recommend and why?

Yeeesh, that's a hard question. I like so many! Top 3 are as follows though: Roadie -- makes me laugh every time, so it is my go-to movie when I'm in a bad mood. Crazy in Alabama -- hate his character's ego/prejudice so much you can't help but love him too. Black Dog -- the irony of a gunrunning nutcase quoting scripture makes for a very interesting character. Plus, Patrick Swayze? Yum.

Roadie is a great choice for anyone who's already a fan of Meat's music and personality.
Rocky Horror - well, I think everyone's seen it by now, but if they haven't they should.
I think The Mighty was quite underrated. Meat's role isn't huge, but it is powerful.

Meat takes roles for the challenge to him as an actor, so many are not large, but he always makes a powerful contribution.
Everything That Rises shows his great touch with light comedy .. I'd love to see him starring in a light comedy as opposed to the heavies he often plays. He delivers a really powerful scene in Outside Ozona .. and for me his strongest performance to date is as Fred in Focus. That's the first film I've ever immediately rewound and watched again right away. Great movie, and there are flashes of brilliance in his performance .. where you can see what his character is thinking and feeling despite what he is saying .. on a par with the late Alec Guinness imo who was a master of that.
If you want to see more "Meat time" Blacktop is a good film, and again his portrayal of a killer is multi-layered. There is a point where, whilst not condoning or empathising, I understood what had driven the character to what he had become. Again, powerful acting with a highly skilld touch. He richly deserves his recent induction to the Texas Film HoF. He really does find the truth in any character he takes on, and delivers it with skill, however large or small the role

Although Meat is only in the movie for about 5 minutes, I highly recommend that everyone watch "Beautiful Boy" Meat plays a hotel clerk in the movie and has several short appearances throughout the film, but he definitely makes the most of his time on screen. He also shows a great deal of compassion for the main characters in the film. Now, I won't say much more because I don't want to give to much away, but it is a very powerful and emotional movie that I highly recommend.
