So what was the 1st ML song you remember liking? According to family members, I started listening to Meat at 4-years-old, with "Dead Ringer For Love." Yup 4. Drove them all crazy (repeated it all the time) because nobody else in my family likes his music.....at all. LOL As a kid, I constantly listened to DR and Paradise almost nonstop. But my first real memory is with Paradise. I was in 5th?.... 6th grade?....at the time. We were traveling somewhere (unimportant) in the car, with me in the backseat wearing out my Walkman & headphones to Paradise. For some reason lightning struck ---I figured out what that lyrics were talking about, just out of the blue. I remember looking around and wondering "do they know what I'm listening to back here?" they knew, of course, but... It was like my own dirty little secret, listening to it from then on. Bahahahahaha

My first song I liked was Paradise also at age 4.
I was traumatized by the spoken part before YTTW. Wolf and Red Roses, throats, hunger......did not settle well with my 4 year old brain. And my older siblings taunted me with it. So, once the spoken part was over, I was okay. LOL!
Oddly, I was perfectly fine with BOOH. Bats and Hell I didn't mind at age 4. Go figure!
I never phased away from Meat, but thought I was the only one still listening to him (while in middle school). I took a road trip with my older cousin. A drive from Florida to NY...1,500 miles. From about North Carolina all the way up the eastern seaboard we listened to Bat 1. I didn't realize she was a fan too! Then we sang like two rock stars all the way up. It was the best time in the car I ever had.

I didn't find Meat whilst still in my father's prostate .. lol I'm a contemporary and thankful that I am, and have been able to follow him from 1978. He's never declined in general popularity here .. shot to icon status and stayed there The first song I loved was of course the first one I heard, Paradise .. it was the first song he sang on OGWT. My erstwhile husband yelled at me to come and listen to this amazing guy .. and I was blown away by this incredible singer, DEFinitely singing to an adult audience The BBC switchboard was jammed with calls demanding to see him again, asking if he was touring etc and they took the very rare step of getting him back almost immediately to sing BOOH. As soon as it was possible we bought the album .. vinyl of course And vowed we'd see him live in concert as soon as he toured in the UK .. which we did. I loved all the songs .. even the wolf with the red roses of course as it was pitched perfectly for us. (It's the only spoken bit on the albums I do like). But the show-stopper had to be FCOL It was long ago and it was far away .. and he's never better than he is today Great journey, I've loved every bit of it, and never more than the one he's taking me on now

As a child I remember my Dad playing Bat Out Of Hell in the car but I don't really think I paid it much attention back then. In 1999-ish, I remember being facinated by the different parts in Paradise and how it seemed to play like some kind of story. I even sat down and learned all the words. It didn't occur to me what the words meant to start with or what the story was actually about.

The first song I remember listening to was Los Angeloser. I was reading a blog post where Jenna was talking about the video so I went looking for it to see what it was like.
